In order to cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers, promote the international promotion of Chinese language and the dissemination of Chinese culture, the Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban (hereinafter referred to as Hanban) has established the Confucius Institute Scholarship, entrusting Confucius Institutes, independently established Confucius Classrooms, and some Chinese language examination centers (hereinafter referred to as recommending institutions) to recommend outstanding students and in-service Chinese language teachers to study at Chinese universities (hereinafter referred to as receiving institutions).
1、 Funding target
1. Non Chinese nationals.
2. Good physical and mental health, with excellent academic performance.
3. Willing to engage in Chinese language education, teaching, and international promotion related work.
4. The age range is 16-35 years old. The age limit for in-service Chinese language teachers is relaxed to 45 years old, and undergraduate scholarship applicants generally do not exceed 25 years old.
2、 Scholarship categories and application requirements
1. PhD in Chinese International Education
Enrollment starts in September every year, with a funding period of 4 years.
Having a master's degree in Chinese as a foreign language, linguistics, international Chinese education, or education related majors. The Chinese exam score reaches 200 points in HSK (Level 6) and 60 points in HSKK (Advanced). More than 2 years of work experience in Chinese language teaching and related fields.
2. Master's degree in Chinese International Education
Enrollment starts in September each year, with a sponsorship period of 2 years.
Having a bachelor's degree. The Chinese language exam score reaches 210 points in HSK (Level 5) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate). Priority will be given to those who provide a work agreement or relevant proof of their intended teaching institution after graduation.
3. Bachelor's degree in Chinese International Education
Enrollment starts in September every year, with a funding period of 4 years.
Having a high school diploma. The Chinese language exam score reaches 210 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate).
4. One academic year trainee
Enrollment starts in September each year, with a sponsorship period of 11 months. Not admitting international students studying in China.
1) Chinese International Education
The Chinese language exam score reaches 270 points in HSK (Level 3) and has an HSKK score.
2) Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy
The Chinese exam score reaches 180 points in HSK (Level 4) and 60 points in HSKK (Intermediate).
3) Chinese Language Training
The Chinese exam score has reached 210 points in HSK (Level 3).
5. One semester trainee
Enrollment starts in September or March each year, with a sponsorship period of 5 months. We do not accept individuals with X1 or X2 visas on their passports.
1) Chinese International Education, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy
The Chinese language exam score reaches HSK (Level 3) 180 points, with HSKK score.
2) Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tai Chi Culture
Having HSK scores.
6. Four week training students
Enrollment starts in July or December each year, with a funding period of 4 weeks. We do not accept individuals with X1 or X2 visas on their passports.
1) Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tai Chi Culture
Having HSK scores.
2) Chinese Language+Chinese Family Experience
Having HSK scores. Registration will be conducted by Confucius Institutes in groups, and the receiving institution will be contacted in advance to determine the study plan in China. Approval from the headquarters will be obtained in advance, with 10-15 people per group.
3) Confucius Institute Special Four Week Students
Having HSK scores. Registration will be conducted by groups of 10-15 people from Confucius Institutes.
7. Hanban and recipient universities' cooperative scholarships
Hanban has partnered with some receiving universities to establish the Confucius Institute Scholarship, named "XX University Confucius Institute Scholarship", which includes one academic year of training and undergraduate and master's degree scholarships in Chinese international education. The relevant universities will recruit students according to the standards stipulated in these measures; The "Chinese+Vocational and Technical Training" scholarship will enroll students according to the standards announced by the relevant institutions in the scholarship system (see Annex 3 for the enrollment categories and quotas of the relevant institutions).
3、 Handling process
Starting from March 1st each year, applicants can log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website (cis.chinese. cn) to apply for the Confucius Institute Scholarship.
Log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website to search for recommended and receiving institutions; Submit application materials online, pay attention to the application process, review opinions, and scholarship evaluation results; The scholarship recipient confirms with the receiving institution to complete the procedures for studying in China and prints the award certificate online; Register for enrollment at the time specified in the admission notice from the receiving institution.
The application deadline is:
On April 20th (July enrollment).
On May 20th (September enrollment).
September 20th (enrollment in December).
November 20th (enrollment in March of the following year).
Hanban will conduct centralized evaluation and provide preferential funding. The scholarship evaluation work will be completed three months before enrollment, and the evaluation results will be announced.
4、 About the Chinese Bridge Winners
Those who have obtained the "Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese bridge competitions for the current year can log in to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website and submit application materials to the target receiving institution with the scholarship certificate.

5、 Recommended institutions and receiving universities
Recommendation agencies and receiving institutions shall fulfill their territorial responsibilities in accordance with these measures, providing services such as consultation, recommendation, and enrollment.
6、 Other
1. Relevant professional training programs and teaching courses can be consulted with the target receiving institution.
2. Applicants must understand the specific enrollment conditions and registration deadline of the target receiving institution, and submit application materials in accordance with relevant regulations.
3. Academic students are required to participate in the annual evaluation, as detailed in the "Annual Evaluation Method for Confucius Institute Scholarships".
4. Failure to report on time, failure to pass the entrance examination, dropping out midway, or taking a leave of absence will result in the cancellation of scholarship eligibility.
